Matthew 6.19-7.12 in The Message will transform your thinking. Annie is right. Worry and fear lead to a judgmental attitude. God not only provides a roof over my head he provides the confidence I have to be the image barer he created me to be. When you embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit less will rattle you. The evil agenda is a constant antagonist in the war on purity and peace. It will and does use anything to put a crack in your defense. The Bible is clear that in this world we will have trouble, but God has overcome the world.
Life in the trenches is wrought with danger. Even if you isolate yourself in your house, never get on the internet and become a literal hermit in every sense of the word sin is a reality. You can begin everyday in Bible reading and prayer, but Satan or his forces will seek to distract, maim and destroy you.
Proverbs 3.5-12 is a powerful weapon in this regard. Here it is in The Message.
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction.
Everyone has the same primary calling. That calling is to bring glory to God in everything we do. The secondary calling varies from person to person. All of us in our perspective callings can bring glory to God. We are united in our relationship with what Jesus did and does through us. There’s another being who tries to stop that from happening. Sometimes he does, but many times he doesn’t.
Let’s help each other glorify our Father.
